CYC Vice-Commordore's Invitational Regatta Result:

It was a great day!    We kicked off the day with the VC Regatta Brunch, including omelets, waffles, ham, salads, homemade muffins, bagels, juices, coffee and of course a few Mimosa's!   Thanks to all who made that event such a success.

At noon, our race committee took the skippers through the plan for the day and given the N to NW winds....we set up a North1 course.
After going over the "rules of engagement", sixteen sailing vessels took to the water.   Fourteen members of the CYC and we had two skippers join us from the community invitations (Timothy Watko and Robert Stryker).   With five to ten knots of wind, the racing sequence for the Flying Scott Class commenced at six min to 1 and at 1pm promptly they were off, to be followed approximately five minutes later by the Cruisers.   The racing included exciting starts, many position changes throughout the races, and some very close finishes with some positions being decided by the difference of two to five seconds.   We also had some very important finishes of note: Peggy Bovaird (with Susan Brier and Amy Bozzuti as crew) a team that races together approximately two times a year, piloted one of the heaviest boats in the fleet (Catalina 25) to an outstanding 5th place among all cruisers...well done!   Also one of our junior sailing champions, Maggie Bozzuti skippered a Catalina 22 (owned by Cheryl Evans with Rosalie Seidt) to an overall 9th place among the cruisers, in her debut Sr Racing event.  It was an honor and privilege to watch her compete at this level.

The Vice Commodore and the Race Committee want to extend our thanks to everyone for making this Regatta a memorable event and just possibly we have put an end to the "curse of the wind gods!".
